1. Purpose and Scope
Rising Moon Swim Academy LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("Rising Moon," "we," "us," or "our"), uses cookies and comparable technologies on the website located at www.risingmoonswim.com (the "Website"). The present Cookie Policy identifies those technologies, explains what each accomplishes, and sets out how you can control them. Categories of personal information, retention periods, and the requests available to you are addressed in the Rising Moon Privacy Policy, while the conditions of use of the Website appear in the Rising Moon Terms of Service.
2. What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser and reads back on later requests, enabling the site to recognize the browser, maintain a session, or remember a setting. First-party cookies are set under the domain of the website being visited; third-party cookies are set under a different domain whose resources the page loads. Session cookies disappear when the browser is closed, whereas persistent cookies remain until they expire or are deleted. Comparable technologies, such as local storage and scripts that read browser characteristics, perform similar functions and are treated in the same way for the purposes of the present Policy.
3. Strictly Necessary Technologies
Certain technical cookies or storage may be set by the platform that hosts the Website in order to deliver pages, protect the Website against automated abuse, balance traffic, and transmit the inquiry form. Technologies of that kind are indispensable to the operation of the Website, do not serve to build a profile of the visitor, and are not used for analytics or advertising. Blocking them through browser settings may prevent the Website, and in particular the inquiry form, from working properly.
4. Analytics Cookies: Google Analytics
Rising Moon measures use of the Website through Google Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC ("Google"). According to the Google Analytics documentation published by Google, the Google Analytics tag sets two first-party cookies. The cookie named _ga is used to distinguish users and carries a default expiration of 2 years. A second cookie, named _ga_ followed by an identifier of the Analytics property and shown in Google's documentation as _ga_{container-id}, is used to persist session state and carries the same default expiration of 2 years. Browsers impose their own limits on first-party cookies when a visitor does not return, with a maximum of 400 days in Chrome and 7 days in Safari, so the actual lifespan is often shorter.
The information that Google Analytics derives through those cookies, and the period for which it is retained, are described in Sections 4 and 11 of the Privacy Policy. Rising Moon uses the resulting reports solely to understand and improve the Website: Google Analytics data is not used for advertising, the advertising features of Google Analytics are not activated, and the Analytics property is linked to no advertising account.
Google describes how it uses information from websites that rely on its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and its general privacy practices at https://policies.google.com/privacy. Measurement can be switched off altogether through the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, which prevents Google Analytics from using data from your browser on every website you visit and is designed to be compatible with Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge.
5. Square Scheduling and Payment Pages
Online scheduling and payment, where offered, take place on pages operated by Block, Inc. ("Square") through its Square Appointments service. Those pages, and any Square component that the Website may display, can set cookies and use comparable technologies under Square's control, including for security, fraud prevention, and the completion of bookings and payments. Such technologies are governed by Square's Privacy Notice for Users Who Do Not Apply or Sign Up for a Square Account or Other Services, available at https://squareup.com/us/en/legal/general/privacy-no-account, which contains its own section on cookies and similar technologies. Cookies set by Square are not accessible to Rising Moon.
6. Technologies Not Used on the Website
Rising Moon places no advertising cookies, uses no retargeting or conversion-tracking tags, and has installed no social media tracking pixel, including the Meta Pixel, on the Website. Information collected through cookies is neither sold nor shared for targeted advertising.
7. Consent and Your Choices
No Florida statute applicable to Rising Moon requires prior consent before analytics cookies are placed, and the Website is intended for persons seeking swimming instruction in Florida. Rising Moon nevertheless leaves the choice with you. Cookies can be refused, removed, or restricted at any time through your browser, and Google Analytics measurement can be disabled through the add-on described in Section 4. Refusing analytics cookies has no effect on your ability to browse the Website or to submit an inquiry.
How the Website treats "Do Not Track" and similar browser signals is explained in Section 14 of the Privacy Policy.
8. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
Current versions of the major browsers allow cookies to be viewed, deleted, and blocked, either for all websites or for a particular one. In Google Chrome on a computer, cookies can be deleted through More, then Delete browsing data, and third-party cookies can be managed through More, then Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies, as explained at https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647. Safari on a Mac keeps its controls for stored cookies and website data under Safari, then Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data, as described at https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/manage-cookies-sfri11471/mac. On an iPhone, the corresponding controls are found under Settings, then Apps, then Safari, including the options Clear History and Website Data and, under Advanced, Block All Cookies, as set out at https://support.apple.com/en-us/105082. Microsoft Edge presents its cookie controls under Settings, then Privacy, search, and services, then Cookies, as described at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/manage-cookies-in-microsoft-edge-view-allow-block-delete-and-use. Mozilla Firefox and other browsers offer equivalent controls in their privacy settings, documented in the help pages of each browser vendor.
Menu names can change from one browser version to the next, and the help pages of each vendor reflect the current version. Deleting cookies removes them from your device only; information already transmitted to a provider is governed by that provider's policies and by the Privacy Policy.
9. Changes to the Present Policy
Updates to the present Policy will be posted on the Website with a revised "Last Updated" date. Where a change introduces a technology of a category not described above, the Policy will be updated before that technology is deployed.
